Let the band play on

My 9yo had his first band concert last night. For all fourth graders and first year students, they did amazingly well, even playing some songs in the round.

He got an award for memorizing, not only the required three songs, but all of the band's repertoire so far. My boys must get their musical talent from their dad because they certainly don't get it from me!

Just had to share the other boys while they were waiting for the music to start. What's with the 20 month old and winking for the camera? LOL

My oldest took this shot. He was a bit embarrassed when I encouraged him to go way up in front to get a good photo. He snuck through a side door and took this from backstage. What a great view!

Little Winkin' is a cutie. The shot by your eldest is very good. And great loud cheers for music and talent and hard work and practice! No one is inheriting musical talent from me either...

Looks to me as if there may be a creative photographer up and coming in your family.... Wonder who he gets his creative eye from....Hmmmmm!

just found your blog...what a treat, between your photography and sharing the wonderful "Snow Man" poem...thank you. Is that a euphonium or baritone that your son is playing? My daughter plays the euphonium and our music teacher has gotten her hooked up with "Tuba Christmas" for the last couple of years--they do this in all different cities; tuba and euphonium players of all ages come together for one day, practice for a couple of hours and then put on a holiday concert. It's so much fun for these instruments to get to play the melody for once! I would highly recommend it, if someone organizes it near you.
