Grannies squared

It's fun when a project comes together seemingly out of nowhere.
I started making the granny squares from leftover tapestry wool without a plan of what they would become...

...then I remembered the buttons I had covered with rub-on transfers (someone blogged about covering smooth stones this way and at that time I didn't have any). Sewed those on, plus a couple extra buttons and I have some cute brooches in fun color combinations.
