Making waves

I'm about half done with my second ripple afghan. This one in ribbed stripes -- just put the crochet hook into the back loop of yarn instead of both loops when making the double crochet.

I just realized this is the back side, so you don't get the full ribbed effect. I did the rib between the two rows of the same color.

I'm using 6 different colors of Plymouth Encore DK yarn I bought on Etsy awhile back -- orange pumpkin, light brown heather, medium brown heather, red, purple and blue gray. It's sport weight, 75 % acrylic and 25% wool and very delicate and soft.

It's going to be a baby blanket -- or two if there is enough yarn since my sister-in-law is expecting twins. I'm not going through the balls of yarn nearly as fast as I thought I would.

This also isn't coming together as fast as my first much larger ripple afghan. That's because I'm not nearly as addicted to doing it. I do a few rows before bed each night and in the car while waiting on kids in the afternoon. (See the steering wheel.)

That's pretty much how I get my knitting done - a row or two before bed and whatever I can squeeze in during car line.

Very pretty. That's why I suggested the granny square since it wouldn't be a lot to carry around and you can work on a little at a time. What a darling present!
