Flowers of Scotland

It was amazing how bright and full and colorful the flowers were in Scotland.

Must be all that rain -- and the money municipalities and businesses obviously spent on street-side containers and hanging baskets.

Just look at how many more photos I took this time over two years ago -- Flowers in Scotland.

Summer sunset

Summer is almost over

Despite spreading out lots of flower seeds,

the only thing that grew in our garden this year

(besides lots of weeds and grass)

were these petite sunflowers.

I sure enjoyed having them

on our kitchen table for awhile though.

And now that they have started to wilt,

they may have a renewed life next year.

Along with the blanket flowers

that were growing there,

the wilted heads have been spread out

along the white picket fence

facing the lake at my inlaws' camp.

For all the trouble I have getting things

to grow here, they flourish there.

Can't wait for next summer

to see how they do.
