Summer is almost over


Despite spreading out lots of flower seeds,
the only thing that grew in our garden this year
(besides lots of weeds and grass)
were these petite sunflowers.

I sure enjoyed having them
on our kitchen table for awhile though.

And now that they have started to wilt,
they may have a renewed life next year.

Along with the blanket flowers
that were growing there,
the wilted heads have been spread out
along the white picket fence
facing the lake at my inlaws' camp.

For all the trouble I have getting things
to grow here, they flourish there.

Can't wait for next summer
to see how they do.

Mostly about texture (redux)

With some words of wisdom from our travel companion and photographer Juliet, I've made some changes on the black and whites I posted yesterday.

I think I knew to do all that she suggested, I just needed someone to point it out to me -- bring out the black, be more selective with photos and adjust the cropping on some.
