While most places we visited in Scotland were centuries old, in contrast, the Falkirk Wheel was ultra-modern. And ultra-cool!
Instead of moving through the Forth & Clyde canal via a lock, boats go in at the bottom and...
..spin around to the top. It was the most amazing thing to see.
Before I started blogging, and looking at other blogs (many of them collage artists), I would've looked at Susan Myles' artwork, enjoyed it and probably forgotten about it.
Instead, I took closer looks to see what materials she used and took lots of photographs so I could share them here on my blog.
She used photographs of the Wheel and canal, text, watercolor, pen and ink and fabric to create a variety of pieces.
Shown here is just a sampling of each style.
I wished Susan herself was there working, but I did get a peak at her process.
I wish I had bought a few of her cards too.
Great photos Julie! I am not completely fascinated with the Falkirk Wheel. I haven't made it to Scotland yet, but when I do, I definitely want to go for a boat ride on the Wheel!
